About

Why 'Strelitzia'?
The Strelitzia is a beautiful and exotic plant native to South Africa – often more commonly known as the “Bird of Paradise” plant - so called because of a resemblance of its flowers to the birds of paradise in flight in South Africa.
The Strelitzia flower is said to symbolise freedom and represent immortality.
The symbolism of the Strelitzia flower resonates very deeply with me and I could think of no better name for my business than Strelitzia Training & Consultancy.
A message from Lesley Fisher
There are many aspects of my police career I will never forget. There are also some cases and people whose lives I stepped into who I will always remember.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity - due to my chosen profession - to have been able to intervene and be that tenacious, insistent and positive force for good. But I am prouder still of those I met who I was able to help. Especially those for whom I was their only voice.
Many survivors of personal crimes - whether that is psychological or physical abuse - have the hardest job to do; to face their biggest fears, disclose the most personal things, to place trust in strangers and to understand and believe there are organisations and professionals who could help them take a different step forward - towards a future they deserve to be living. For those souls who paid the highest price because of the abuse they suffered – the work we do is also for them; we are their voice too and let our work - and the work of other like-minded organisations - be their immortality.
